Deep Vision Dance Company

Deep Vision Dance Company

Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Nicole A. Martinell, Deep Vision Dance Company, Inc. (DVDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing high quality choreographic work in the Baltimore/DC area while creating a home for dancers, collaborating with local artists, and educating the community in the creative process. Martinell’s choreography immerses audiences into a unique world that highlights the flux of human emotions, arouses curiosity, and challenges one’s view of reality. DVDC choreography has been featured at such Baltimore/DC venues as Theatre Project, Baltimore Museum of Art, Towson University, Goucher College, Creative Alliance, Dance Place, and Joe’s Movement Emporium as well as up the east coast. Also highly active in the community, DVDC organizes workshops, classes, improvisation jams, and mentorship programs that focus on creation and collaboration. In 2012, DVDC (under the creative direction of Martinell and Sidney Pink) founded AKIMBO Dance & Movement Art Festival, an interdisciplinary, site-specific festival in Baltimore City’s Station North Arts & Entertainment District.

Deep Vision Dance Company has been a Theatre Project Resident Company since 2013. Past productions include heady collectables, The Travelling Feet, and Matter, Energy, Human, and Collide.
