Annual Summer Lab for Tweens

Dream and Do!  During Theatre Summer Lab for Youth, middle schoolers (6th to 8th grades or 11 to 14 years old) will create a wholly original production devised from their own interests and dreams for theatre in a challenging, professional, nurturing and fun environment.  Curriculum will be built in conjunction with workshops offered by local guest artists where students will learn theatrical skills from vocal percussion, modern dance and improv comedy to puppetry and Applied Theatre.  They will use their new skills to collaboratively build an original script, sets and costumes and perform the piece as an ensemble in Theatre Project’s historic and intimate space.

Field Trips! As part of the lab,students will take field trips to local museums and attractions in Mt. Vernon's culturally vibrant neighborhood. Once a week, students take a break from the rigors of rehearsal to enjoy pizza and swimin a nearby pool. During Artscape weekend, students will explore Artscape's offerings together.

We are still in the planning stages for The Lab in 2012.
